When you are shopping for a jacket, a coat, or a blazer, pay attention to the fit around the shoulders. While a tailor can tweak pretty much everything about the fit of a jacket (from tapering the waist to shortening it), they can't change the shoulders. Make sure the seams sit perfectly at the bony tops of your shoulders.
You can revamp your old coat by swapping out the buttons and having a tailor replace the lining with something eye catching, like a pattern or a bright color.
If you don't feel like trying a dress, but still want to see where the hem will hit you, align the shoulder seam exactly with your shoulder bone and not your collarbone. This way can help you to know whether the dress is small/big or will fit you perfectly.
Don't apply eyeliner all the way around the eyes.. Doing so will cause your eyes to look smaller, as they will appear fenced or ringed in by the circle line.
